Monthly Review - May 2020

In this blog post I will go through the dividends I collected in May of 2020.

I will also go through changes in my portfolio.

General:

I broke a milestone this month! 1000 euros of net dividends collected. The total of net dividends collected is now 1016,06€ to be precise. Can't wait to get to 2000€.

The month of May consisted of some dividend cuts and suspensions. I think that it is good to experience these cuts and suspensions in the beginning phase of my journey. I didn't get upset, sad or anything. I'm just trying to learn from all of this.
I am currently reading Philip Fisher's Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits. I have already learnt a lot from the book and I'm only in the beginning of reading it.

In the future I will try to come up with a blog post with a topic of how I pick the companies I want to invest in but this will have to wait since I feel like it's still molding a bit along the way. I'm still in the beginning on my dividend growth investing journey so it might take a while to achieve a more detailed process.

Dividends received:

In May of 2020 I collected dividends from seven companies. The total amount received in net dividends was 29,55€.

Last year I collected 19,62€ in May from four companies (Huhtamaki, General Mills, Tanger, AT&T).

Year on year growth in net dividends for May was 29,55%.

The reason for the increase is mostly because I have opened new positions in Antero Midstream and QDVD ETF. I have also added to my Altria position. (AT&T and Altria)

List of the companies that raised cut or suspended their dividends in May 2020:
Taaleri Oyj held their AGM on the May 18th: "The General Meeting decided according to the proposal of the Board of Directors that a dividend of EUR 0.16 per share be paid based on the balance sheet adopted for the financial year ended 31 December 2019. The dividend will be paid to shareholders who on the dividend record date of 20 May 2020 are entered as shareholders in the company’s shareholder register held by Euroclear Finland Ltd. The dividend is to be paid on 28 May 2020.

In addition, the General meeting authorised the Board of Directors to at a later date decide on a payment of a maximum dividend of EUR 0.16 per share for the financial year 2019 with a payment at one or more occasions. The authorisation is in force until the Annual General Meeting 2021. The Board was also authorised to decide on the record date and the date of payment of a possible dividend. Taaleri will notify of the decisions separately."

I decided to remove the possible 0,16€ dividend from projections. I'll add it if or when the company decides to pay it. This is the reason why the Projected forward annual net dividends if lower from last month.

Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc. suspends dividend on May 11th.
"Tanger intends to pay the dividend of $0.3575 per share declared in January 2020 as scheduled on May 15, 2020 to holders of record on April 30, 2020.  Going forward, given the current uncertainty related to the pandemic's near and potential long-term impact, the Company's Board of Directors will temporarily suspend dividend distributions to conserve approximately $35 million in cash per quarter and preserve the Company's balance sheet strength and flexibility. The Board will continue to evaluate the potential for future dividend distributions on a quarterly basis. Tanger intends to remain in compliance with REIT taxable income distribution requirements for the 2020 tax year."
